{"id":14922,"date":"2023-11-09T15:34:17","date_gmt":"2023-11-09T13:34:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chaniafilmfestival.com\/stories-to-hear\/"},"modified":"2025-09-30T15:59:37","modified_gmt":"2025-09-30T12:59:37","slug":"stories-to-hear","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/chaniafilmfestival.com\/en\/stories-to-hear\/","title":{"rendered":"Stories to hear!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Announcement of the Student Competition on the subject: &#8220;Stories to be heard!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Chania Film Festival organizes a Student Competition on the theme:<br \/>\n &#8220;Stories to be heard!&#8221; [ approval of the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports No. Pr: F.3\/122504\/\u0393\u03944 \/ 30-10-2023 ]  <\/p>\n<p>The Competition is addressed to students of Primary Schools (grades C to F), Gymnasiums and Lyceums of Greece, public and private (school classes with the respective teacher or individual students).  <\/p>\n<p>Basic idea of the Competition<\/p>\n<p>The tendency to perceive the world through stories is clearly widespread in different cultures and historical periods, characterizing almost all areas of human perception, communication and creation. So many human stories evolve every day&#8230; ours, our friends, our relatives, people we don&#8217;t know.<br \/>\nBut we also hear stories about the past, about what went through and fit in our memories.<br \/>\nThe recording, promotion and publication of stories gives a voice to each and every one of them to save his\/her stories, to make them &#8220;common property&#8221;, to give them value by contributing to individual and collective memory. Because everyone&#8217;s stories contribute to our common history!<br \/>\nThe recording of stories can be done by utilizing a variety of audiovisual media, giving the opportunity to cultivate skills in the production of sound, visual and audiovisual creations<\/p>\n<p>Purpose of the Competition  <\/p>\n<p>Students to implement digital, audio and \/ or audiovisual recordings of stories on proposed topics, referring to the community they live and act, as important elements of understanding their collectives, their multiple identities, the past and the present that unites them.<\/p>\n<p>Objectives of the Competition  <\/p>\n<p>Students<br \/>\na\/ acquire knowledge and skills for the production of an audio and\/or audiovisual creation (use of tools, acquaintance and familiarization with codes of oral narration and recording\/videography, audiovisual literacy),<br \/>\n b\/ acquire skills in creating and recording stories with creative characteristics, on the occasion of a topic (cultivation of storytelling techniques and their application),<br \/>\nc\/ to utilize the digital recording of stories for the expression and understanding of emotions (emotional education),<br \/>\n d\/ to utilize their familiar stock of knowledge and experiences,<br \/>\n e\/ to feel members of a community of storytellers\/researchers\/creators of oral stories,<br \/>\n f\/ to engage with and highlight aspects of the intangible cultural heritage of their place.<\/p>\n<p>Implementation steps-Timetable<\/p>\n<p>November 2023 Registrations.<br \/>\nNovember 2023-January 2024<br \/>\n Topic selection, research, selection of narrator(s), implementation of audiovisual media familiarization activities, project design.<br \/>\nJanuary &#8211; March 2024 Interviewing students, curating and completing audio and\/or audiovisual creation.<br \/>\nMarch 2024 Posting of files (completed project) on an electronic platform.<br \/>\nApril &#8211; May 2024 Evaluation of deliverables &#8211; Announcement of awards.<\/p>\n<p>Registrations :  <\/p>\n<p>Register by filling out the form below<\/p>\n<p>Topics of the Competition:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Stories about the school (stories about the school building, the classroom, the schoolyard, the classmates, the lessons, the textbooks, the school objects, the school trips&#8230; every story of school life&#8230;)<br \/>\n\u2022 Stories about gifts (stories about gifts we received, that we gave, that we would like to give, that we would like to receive, that we didn&#8217;t have time to give&#8230;)<br \/>\n\u2022 Stories about friends (stories about groups that we will remember forever, stories about the actions of a group of friends in the neighborhood, at school, in the community, stories about groups that were lost in time&#8230;)<br \/>\n\u2022 Stories from life [stories that have been imprinted on the narrator from his life. Occupation, migration, work&#8230;]\n\u2022 Nutrition stories [stories related to traditional products (oil, wine, herbs, etc.), eating habits, eating customs and traditions, etc.]  <\/p>\n<p>  * In the role of storyteller can be students, teachers, parents and relatives of students, members of the wider community.<\/p>\n<p>Deliverables:<\/p>\n<p>Deliverables are the audio and\/or audiovisual creations of the students. The completed works are posted on the organizer&#8217;s platform in mp3, mp4 files and an accompanying file regarding the identity of the project (in word -.doc or .docx file), according to the Competition template. <\/p>\n<p>The criteria\/indicators for the evaluation of the delivered audio and audiovisual recordings of the Student Competition are:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Content: Demonstrated ability to create clear messages and knowledge of the topic (balance, completion, clarity).<br \/>\n\u2022 Communication skills: originality in terms of the communication techniques<br \/>\n used \u2022 Technical skills: Degree of utilization of the capabilities of the story<br \/>\nrecording medium \u2022 Entertainment value: Educational utilization and ease of listening \/ viewing<\/p>\n<p>Awards:<\/p>\n<p>The following awards are awarded: (for each type of school separately \u2013 Primary, Junior High School, High School)<\/p>\n<p>1st, 2nd and 3rd Prize for recorded history<br \/>\n1st, 2nd and 3rd Prize for videotaped history<\/p>\n<p>  The awards will be commemorative diplomas and books from the publications of the Chania Film Festival.<\/p>\n<p>Also for the student &#8211; Primary and High School &#8211; who will win the 1st Prize in each category, 1 three-day residency will be given at the 12th Chania Film Festival [together with his companion].<br \/>\nFinally, for the student \u2013 Lyceum \u2013 who will win the 1st Prize in each category, a full FREE scholarship will be given to the 3rd Summer School of the Chania Film Festival in July 2024
