This book is addressed to anyone who is interested in getting to know the history of Chania through its surviving monuments. At the same time, it is aimed at teachers who strive to create historical awareness in their students but find that the results are meager.<\/p>\n
It consists of three parts.<\/p>\n
The first part briefly presents the historical periods of Chania with the addition of their mythological origins.<\/p>\n
In the second part, a complete guide to the monuments and the most important findings has been compiled, including 311 records.<\/p>\n
In the third part, a total of 24 routes through the city are proposed, which have been compiled with different criteria, in order to satisfy the particular interests of the reader.<\/p>\n
The annex contains material for teachers and non-teachers: proposals for the extension of tours and a list of more than 500 historical sites in the Prefecture of Chania proposed for educational visits.<\/p>\n
