A new book is about to be added to the bibliography of Chania. It refers to the Municipal Garden, is entitled “Municipal Garden of Chania. The history and functions of an urban green space” and is published on the occasion of its 150th anniversary.

The book treats the Garden as a whole, as a monument, not only historical but also natural, cultural, social and local. For a century and a half, it has been offering opportunities for walking and recreation, upgrading the quality of life of the place, providing opportunities for sports and environmental education and improving the biodiversity of the city, constituting an ecosystem with its own fauna and flora.

It has been written by Haris Stratidakis and edited by Angeliki Vlachopoulou. It includes more than a hundred photographs, old and modern, and almost half a hundred botanical drawings.
