Ten years of Chania Film Festival, 2012-2022!!! ...
Since the establishment of the Chania Film Festival (CFF), special emphasis has been given to the development of film education and more broadly the audiovisual education of children and young people. In this context, educational programs of film literacy and creation are developed. Every year, activities are not limited to ten days of screenings and workshops. At the end of the Festival, not only the preparations for the next year begin, but also the implementation of the annual training and educational activities and short-term activities.
The Programs have educational character (aimed at teachers, animators, students, parents) and, at the same time, have educational character, as the knowledge and skills acquired by adults in training on audiovisual (film literacy) issues are invited to transfer them to the classroom or workshop, designing and implementing activities with children and young people.
By participating in the Programs, teachers and students take steps towards their film literacy.
∙Know the methods and techniques by which the film product is produced (narratives, documentaries, animation, etc.).
∙ Develop a critical attitude towards film products (expressive conventions and visual media).
∙ They approach social issues through films.
∙ They use audiovisual tools to develop personal expression skills (creation of audiovisual products).
A particular goal for teachers is to acquire skills in designing film literacy activities and implementing them either at school or in the context of informal education.
The proposed activities are adapted to the age level of the children to whom it is addressed (from kindergarten to high school), have a playful and attractive form, as they avoid the schooled character.
The trainers are academics, special scientists, film professionals, education executives and educational associates / ideas of the Chania Film Festival with experience in the implementation of film literacy programs.
Trainees are provided with educational and training material in electronic form (asynchronous education platform). At the same time, full educational support is provided.
Participants are given attestations and/or certifications by the ACTA organization, depending on the program.
