The Chania Film Festival organizes on 29, 30 and 31 March 2024, in Chania, the 1st International Scientific Conference with International Participation titled "Audiovisual & Film Literacy. Observation - Critical approach - Creation".

Individuals from diverse backgrounds such as academics, scientists, researchers, artists, professionals in audiovisual expression, education executives, teachers, students, and anyone interested in contributing to meaningful discussions on the Conference topics, are invited to actively engage and participate in the Conference.

The aim of the Conference is to capture the dynamic relationship between Audiovisual Arts and Education through the recording of theoretical trends and the promotion of the practical applications of audiovisual and film literacy in modern schools and the promotion of practices of cooperation and co-creation of formal education (educational community) and informal education (audiovisual arts institutions and creators of audiovisual products).

 

The participants will be asked to answer the specific questions:

(a) What are the trends, concerns and views in the general pedagogical context (convergences and differentiations), which are developed in our country and internationally, on issues of Audiovisual and Film Literacy, and are reflected in theoretical studies and research pursuits?

 

(b) To what extent does "image culture" conflict with the practices of modern schools and what is the relationship of children/adolescents/young people with audiovisual products?

 

(c) What are the most effective ways (models) of integrating audiovisual arts into education?

 

(d) What are teachers' attitudes/views on audiovisual education (audiovisual education and audiovisual arts education) and what creative teaching practices emerge from teaching applications in the school environment with the synergy of audiovisual expression in the educational process (objectives, content, teaching material, teaching methodology)?

 

(e) What educational practices have been developed in the three dimensions of audiovisual literacy (viewing, critical approach and production of audiovisual products) at educational levels?

 

(f) What is the contribution of audiovisual arts to the cultivation/expression of critical and divergent attitude?

 

(g) To what extent and in what ways does non-formal education (institutions, cultural spaces, artists-creators) contribute to audiovisual education?

 

(h) What models and practices of cooperation have been developed between the educational community, audiovisual expression bodies and audiovisual creators?

 

(i) What is the contribution of audiovisual arts to approaching contemporary political and social problems, enhancing access to and participation in the educational system of population groups with linguistic and cultural particularities and people with differentiated teaching needs?

 

(j) To what extent have educational policy initiatives been recorded and evaluated and what policy proposals have been made on the introduction of audiovisual arts at all levels of education?

Didactic proposals and didactic applications with the synergy of audiovisual products and seeking to achieve steps towards audiovisual literacy.

 

Innovative teaching approaches/teaching subjects with elements of audiovisual expression and innovative dissemination actions of Audiovisual Arts in the daily teaching activities of the school

Teaching proposals that promote the synergy of subjects (courses) and audiovisual arts at all levels of education. Teaching approaches that utilize audiovisual products as teaching tools.

 

Teaching applications with an interdisciplinary character, which promote the use of audiovisual arts in the school curriculum

Meeting/coupling of audiovisual expression with other forms of expression (Music, Visual Arts, Literature, Theater, Kinetic Arts, etc.).

Models for the introduction of audiovisual expression in Curricula, school textbooks, Paraprogram, production of educational material, teacher training, etc.).

PARTICIPATION FEE

• Participation with an announcement or workshop: €40 (includes possibility to participate in experiential workshops on a priority basis, minutes in electronic format, certificate of attendance and certificate of participation in a workshop). In case of participation of more than one participant per announcement, each participant registers separately and pays the registration amount independently.

• The payment of the amount of money is made by all the presenters of each announcement with the confirmation of acceptance of their announcement.

• Students (undergraduates) as lecturers participate without financial burden.

• Conference attendance: €0 (includes possibility to participate in experiential workshops, minutes in electronic format, certificate of attendance and certificate of participation in a workshop)
