Studying a 1,000-square-meter piece of land in a village in southern Greece, Geraki, Laconia, an international team of archaeologists is trying to reconstruct the distant past of the acropolis of ancient Geronthra. Among the olive trees and stones, in these harsh landscapes of the Mediterranean south, archaeologists together with the inhabitants of Geraki add their own layer of time to the eternal quest to understand the past.
