Summary:
As if they were never born.
People on the move, exposed to dangers, in unfamiliar and inhospitable places. For 15 years, a photojournalist has been the eyewitness of migrants following them through the dark passages of the European border.
Frustration, death, exhaustion from constant effort and pushbacks occupy an important part of George Moutafis' work. The camera reaches places inaccessible, captures stories that transcend human boundaries and reveals how "The Other Half" lives.
George Moutafis
George Moutafis, born in Athens in 1977, had his first contact with photography at the 18+ Photography Group in 2006. She studied at the Focus and Digital Film Making School of Photography at SAE ATHENS.
In recent years it has documented the most serious humanitarian crises and conflicts in more than 25 countries around the world covering the Middle East, the Balkans, Africa and Latin America. His work has appeared in Reuters, BILD, Newsweek, TIME, LIBERATION, Al Jazeera, BILD, New Yorker, CNN and BBC among others.
He has devoted fifteen years to a project on migration, focusing on the dangerous European paths taken by migrants. Today, based in Athens, he works as a freelance photojournalist and cinematographer.
