Description

The book is the fruit of the research as well as the preparatory work done for the needs of the documentary Flowers that withered early, Kakopetros, August 28, 1944.

We were lucky enough to be next to people who were scarred for life by the murderous fury of the German occupiers on Monday, August 28, 1944 in Kakopetros of the Municipality of Platanias, Chania, and we became recipients and custodians of their memory.

We were entrusted with detailed, shocking descriptions. Testimonies of unique value. Live stories we have to share!

A part of the testimonies of our interlocutors is material from the documentary we created. But another part of them was found in our archive.

Considering that the above testimonies in their entirety are an integral element of the documentary Flowers that withered early, Kakopetros, August 28, 1944 , but also historical material that we must share, they became the main body of the book of the same title.

The book is supplemented with photographic material, historical documents as well as some texts that compose both the historical event of the murderous attack of the Germans on Kakopetros on 28/08/1944, as well as issues, such as the German reparations that followed in time.
