Summary:

The film "Requiem" takes place in the year 1605, against the backdrop of the witch trials. It's a coming-of-age story, following Evelyn as she gets involved in a chase game with her father, the priest Gilbert, to be with Mary, the woman she loves.

Em J. Gilbertson

Em J. Gilbertson is a non-binary person who writes and directs, originally from Liverpool. They work in film, television and music videos. They are represented by the Independent Talent Group and are currently working on their first feature film: The Pigeon Heart. Their previous projects were about gender roles and the pressure of assimilation in dangerous environments, but the new projects discover non-binary identities and freedom.
They have recently graduated from the prestigious NFTS' Directing Fiction course and have a scholarship to Channel 4. The film they graduated with, Requiem starring Bella Ramsey, won Best Postgraduate Drama at the Royal Television Society Student Awards 2022. Since graduation, they have done second unit directing on BBC's Silent Witness and ITV's Malpractice. They previously studied alongside BAFTA winner Phil Barantini and the legendary Mary Harron. They have also directed multiple music videos with tributes to MTV and Kerrang!
Previous projects: "Crashing Waves" was a festival hit and aired on Channel 4 as part of Series 5 of Random Acts. The film was nominated for the Iris Prize, won the Vimeo Staff Pick and was an official selection for the #fivefilmsforfreedom presented by the British Council and BFI Flare in 2019.
